New Romney Bowls
Evening spoon drives will start Thursday 9th May 5pm for 5.30pm start. £2 per person. Then every Friday evening thereafter. List for names will go up on the Monday by green 2 pavilion. Hot dogs and burgers must be pre ordered (list available by green 2 pavilion).
Records show that the game of bowls was played in New Romney as long ago as 1587. This tradition is maintained by the Club at the facilities in Sussex Road. These include two greens, one grass and one artificial all weather, a clubhouse with bar, lounge and dining area.
The all weather green is disabled friendly with the use of a ramp and wheelchair.
Our grass outdoor bowling season opens in April and closes in September. Outdoor bowling continues throughout the colder months October to March on our artificial green, club members enjoy inhouse matches currently twice a week.
The indoor short mat season is October to March.
We have a full size snooker table and darts board.
Visiting teams provide much of the competition and return year after year for their annual matches. The Club’s overall policy is to provide bowling and social facilities all year round.
New Members Welcome
The New Romney Bowls Club recognises that only by practical experience can new members decide if the actual game of Bowls is suitable for them and the Club’s requirements for “beginners”. On joining the Club, new members wishing to bowl will be given the instruction and practice necessary to make this decision. In the event that the actual out-door game is not appropriate for an individual, the social aspect and other activities would welcome their support and interest.
We have various types of membership. Full, Winter, Short Mat, Snooker and Social.
